Britta Grundke | Head of Sustainability
„The battery is key to a more sustainable e-mobility. As a global company with European roots, we are destined to become a frontrunner in sustainable batteries for the mass market.”
**Sustainability is part of our DNA.** We aim to have a positive impact on both society and nature. Our engagement ranges from reducing the CO2 footprint of our battery cells and being a reliable, encouraging employer for our people to promoting human rights and acting as a good corporate citizen in our local communities. As a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, we are part of the “regenerate+” sustainability strategy.
**We take responsibility**: Here is our policy statement on the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG). Our understanding and due diligence processes are based on international reference instruments. We commit to international agreements such as the International Bill of Human Rights and the ILO (International Labour Organization) Core Labor Standards. Our activities are guided, among others, by the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UN Global Compact).
Following our principle “Positive Power”, we focus on a new generation of sustainable batteries. From development to the supply chain, procurement, production and recycling, we work to design the entire life cycle of our batteries without violating human rights and in accordance with recognized environmental standards.
We identify, assess, and manage human rights and environmental risks along our value chain as well as in our own business area. Through vertical integration, we aim to minimize these risks from raw material extraction to battery cell production.
